Travelling to La Rochelle you can choose to fly to La Rochelle Airport, take the Eurostar to Paris and then the TGV to La Rochelle, or take the ferry say to St Malo overnight and then drive to La Rochelle.

La Rochelle Airport has been greatly improved over the past few years. It is only a 10-15 minute taxi ride to the centre of the city. The cost of the taxi is between 15-20 Euros. An alternative is to take a bus for about 1.2 Euro to Place Verdin and then another to the centre. This is what Gill and I do unless we arrive after 7 pm when the buses do not always run.

The railway station is a few minutes walk from the city centre. There is an excellent train service using the TGV from London Paddington to Paris and then to La Rochelle

Where we are moored in La Rochelle

If we are meeting you in La Rochelle the chances are we will meet you in our berth in Le Petit Basin in the Vieux Port. Less likely but possible due to the tides will be the Visitors berths in the Vieux. Lastly if the tide is right out we might ask you to meet us in Minimes the largest marina in Europe with over 3,000 boats.

The photo opposite is of the old harbour. In the top right of the photo are the visitors berths. In the bottom right is the Petit Basin where we are.
